These photos were taken in Joshua Tree in 2015. The imagery is loosely based off the movie El Topo, a film by Alejandro Jodorowsky. I was living at my parents house, after living on my own for 5 years. While being back home, I felt I was on a constant search for something I might have lost: my self. Here, the character I portray thought they knew everything about the world, but once everything was taken from them, they spiraled into a madness they created themselves. The last photo is suppose to represent finding oneself deep within through self reflection (this series was revisted in 2020).

I entitled this photo series Scorpion Flower, which is a title song from the group Crispy & Co, aka Lafayette Afro Rock Band. I would love to continue this project, but as a short film and the song would definetly play a part in the film.
